Elizabeth, one of my favorite flowers. Did you know they make great garnishes for salads, and are high in omega fats?

  2. No, I didn't know. Do you use the flowers or the greens. They seem kind of prickly to me.

Use the whole flowers as decorative garnish. They can be coated with egg white, then sugar for cake decorating too. All of the plant is edible, the stems need to be peeled to remove the prickly hairs. Leaves and peeled stems can be gently steamed. Cooking softens the hairs. Young leaves can be used in salad. (I'm beginning to lecture, whoops) As with most herbs, best picked in the early morning...if you're up!!!
